Author and political commentator Ann Coulter was once a fierce advocate for President Donald Trump, but has drastically changed her tune, to the point that she has stated that she could be willing to vote for self-proclaimed Democratic-socialist Bernie Sanders in the 2020 presidential election, should he run the right campaign.
Margaret Hoover, host of “Firing Line” asked the commentator what she thought of Sanders during a sit-down interview with Coulter, clips of which were posted to Twitter.
Hoover introduced Coulter saying, “She’s the caustic conservative commentator who loved Trump the candidate, and now loves to taunt him.”
“One of the things that was beautiful about the Trump campaign, man that was a great campaign, if only … he governed one percent of the way he campaigned,” Coulter said.

“What do you think about Bernie Sanders? If Bernie Sanders is for getting rid of low-skilled workers to ensure higher wages for (Americans),” Hoover asked.
“And protecting the border,” Coulter cut in. “If he went back to his original position, which is the pro-blue-collar position, I mean, it totally makes sense with him.
“If he went back to that position, I’d vote for him. I might work for him. I don’t care about the rest of the socialist stuff, just can we do something for ordinary Americans?”

“How would you characterize the crisis at the border right now?” Hoover asked Coulter at another point in the interview.
“How about this, worse than it would be under any Democrat,” Coulter answered. “Worse than it would be under Hillary.
“More illegal aliens pouring in than they would be under president Hillary Clinton, definitely under President Bill Clinton, we know it, you can go back to that time, definitely under Obama. There were surges under Obama, but he knew ‘uh oh, I better do something about this.”
“Not Trump, he just sends out a Tweet saying ‘I’m gonna shut down the border,’ and they just keep pouring in, pouring in, pouring in.”
“What’s he not doing that a Democrat would do?” Hoover questioned Coulter.
“I promise you,” Coulter said, “this would not continue under a Democrat because a Democrat would know he would be dead in the water.”
