There’s a new sheriff in town, and he’s taking prisoners. Politico’s Tara Palmeri was the first to report the news. “Newly appointed White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said on Tuesday that he plans to dismiss assistant press secretary Michael Short,” Palmeri wrote on Tuesday morning. “It would be Scaramucci’s first step toward shaking up the communications shop, which has been dominated by former Republican National Committee staffers loyal to White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, a former RNC chairman.”
Michael Short is gone from the White House communications office and is a suspected leaker. Short initially worked for the Trump campaign and was hired by Priebus. But he quit the campaign, according to Breitbart News, after the Access Hollywood tape came out. Apparently, Michael Short walked out in the middle of the battle, leaving his computer behind. He then showed up again in January because of his Republican National Committee (RNC) allies like Priebus and Sean Spicer.
“He was scorned by many of his colleagues for quitting the Trump campaign, only to rejoin as a White House staffer because of Priebus,” Palmeri wrote of Short. “In a story often retold by campaign staffers, they arrived at Trump Tower one morning, months before the election, to see Short’s computer left open on his otherwise empty desk. He had quit the campaign that day and never returned. The next time he was seen by former campaign staffers was in January on their first day in the White House, where some were stunned to learn that they were going to have to work alongside him or for some of the press assistants subordinate to him.”
Multiple sources have told Breitbart News that Short was a leaker. He worked closely with the former White House deputy chief of staff, Katie Walsh, who also was an RNC official and was terminated earlier this year for suspected leaking. Short has not responded to a request for comment on the allegations about his leaking. But he did tell CNN he does not believe he has been terminated, even though multiple White House sources confirm he has been.
“No one has told me anything, and the entire premise is false,” Short responded to CNN. He also denied the allegations of leaking saying, “I have never leaked,” in an email. He also denies that he quit the campaign, saying that he simply went back to work with the RNC.
An interesting point about this was yesterday Scaramucci released a statement to the press yesterday that he was furious because Short found out from the press via a leak. Scaramucci has his work cut out for him.
The new sheriff, Scaramucci, confirmed on numerous occasions over the weekend that he planned to root out leakers in the White House. In fact, on Tuesday, he said that he would terminate everyone if necessary to stop the leaks!
What do you think about Scaramucci’s intensity? Do you agree or disagree?
