Former Vice President Joe Biden was at a press conference in Delaware on Monday when he uttered a few words that no democrat or many republicans have said. You can hear his remarks here Biden’s remarks begin at the 1:45 mark:
When asked if President Trump deserves a chance, Biden answered with a more intense answer:
“Sure he does. That’s exactly why you haven’t seen the president on any of the shows. I mean if I was able to charge, you guys would pay me a lot of money to come on the shows – not a joke. That’s why you haven’t heard anything from us about that.”
Biden continued his statement assuming that the transition to the Trump administration was rough because Trump didn’t expect he would win and was therefore not prepare to take over. “He’s really playing catch-up,” Biden told press. “He should be given a chance. It’s too early to judge.”
Biden was speaking at a press conference for his new Biden Institute which will reside at the University of Delaware. According to the University’s website, the Biden Institute is:
“…a new research and policy center focused on developing public policy solutions on issues ranging from economic reform and environmental sustainability to civil rights, criminal justice, women’s rights and more. The institute will also convene thought leaders on the most important issues of the day.”
The Institute isn’t designed to get involved in debates, but it does plan on commenting on current issues. Biden revealed that neither him nor the former president would enter into any personal disagreement with current President, Donald Trump.
It’s not often you find a Democrat, especially Biden, giving a compliment for Trump. Hopefully this is the beginning of mended relationships with some democrats.
