This just in: Obamacare is over! At least it will be as soon as Trump takes officer and Ben Carson goes to work on its replacement.
While Dr. Carson hasn’t announced if he’s been offered any official position in the new Trump administration, he has announced that he will be helping to create the replacement for Obamacare.
He has not announced any specifics, other than to say that the bill will be crafted first, and then the repeal of Obamacare. Here’s what he said:
I think the replacement obviously must come first and it must be something that is very appealing and easy to understand. And then, only then, would you dismantle what’s in place.
Carson has, however given some hints about the things we are likely to see.
“What do you need for good health care? A patient and a health care provider,” Carson said. “Along comes the middleman to facilitate and that becomes the major entity dictating to the patient and to the physician. And they don’t even need to be there.”
It sounds like the bureaucracy will be reduced to just what is needed. Along with Trump’s previous calls for Health Savings Accounts and for insurance to be allowed to sell across state lines, it sounds like a promising start to replace a system that was broken even before it was voted upon.
“The principle here is to put out something that is so attractive, you don’t have to cajole and force people into it,” Carson said. “This is the way it should be working.”
