Chelsea Clinton has been doing her best to make a name for herself, but what if she’s doing that illegally? According to the Daily Mail, a writer from Albany, New York has filed a lawsuit for $150,000 saying that Ms. Clinton stole his idea in her children’s book, ‘She Persisted.’
Christopher James Kimberley is a small time kids book writer who claims Clinton stole his book idea titled, ‘A Heart is the Part That Makes Boys And Girls Smart.’ Kimberley claims that he gave his book idea to Penguin Young Readers President of the company, Jennifer Loja, in May of 2013.
Instead of using his story, Kimberley believes Loja gave his idea to Ms. Clinton who reworked it into her New York Times bestseller, ‘She Persisted.’ The basis of Kimberley’s claim is founded on the fact that his book revealed 15 quotes and stories from prominent females in history. Ms. Clinton’s version is also based on quotes and stories from historical women and happens to contain three of the same people mentioned in Kimberley’s version.
The similarity of the two is a large reason for the lawsuit which states, “the appearance of impropriety is striking.” It adds that Ms. Clinton’s book adds up to an “unauthorized reproduction of [Kimberly’s] work.”
Kimberley told the New York Post what he thought about Clinton’s actions:
“I did months of painstaking research on my book. Her version looks like a ninth-grade homework assignment. I am in disbelief.”
