A Christian militia known as the Nineveh Plain Protection Unit (NPU) is currently enjoying a win in Iraq as they hoist up a new cross in the city of Qaraqosh. The city in rubbles, also known as Baghdeda, was once home to 50,000 Christians. Those Christians fled with the rise of ISIS.
According to reports, the NPU offered thanks to the French organization “SOS Chretiens Orient” also known as SOS Eastern Christians. The group helped sponsor the cross as well as the rebuilding of several homes in the region.
In an incredible testament of grace and kindness, the people reporters ran into said despite their homes and churches being destroyed, their faith was stronger than ever, and they plan on returning. How people can face death and then come back to the same area is incredible.
Even NPU’s social media has been buzzing with excitement as Christians plan on returning to their home. In a recent video posted to said social media, the NPU requested their International friends to create a “safe-zone” for Christians in the Nineveh Plains. This location is separate from the dangers of the Kurdish Regional Government.
