The war of words within the GOP ranks continues to escalate, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said that President Trump’s interaction with other countries could very well put the U.S. “on the path to World War III.” The New York Times on Sunday reported that Corker said Trump was treating the presidency like “a reality show” and acts “like he’s doing ‘The Apprentice’ or something.”
Corker continued, “He concerns me. He would have to concern anyone who cares about our nation.”
This last round of critical words came after the president went after Corker in a series of tweets on Sunday.
“Senator Bob Corker ‘begged’ me to endorse him for re-election in Tennessee. I said ‘NO’ and he dropped out (said he could not win without…..my endorsement). He also wanted to be Secretary of State; I said ‘NO THANKS.’ He is also largely responsible for the horrendous Iran Deal!” Trump tweeted. “…Hence, I would fully expect Corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. Didn’t have the guts to run!” Trump added.
Corker retaliated with his own tweet on Sunday: “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.” Corker denied the way Trump described the events and said that Trump asked him to run and promised to endorse him if he would.
Are these guys going too far? Is there hope for the White House agenda? How do you think Sen. Corker is going to vote on the Senate floor in the upcoming tax reform debate?
