Country music icon, Jason Aldean, released a statement early Monday morning just hours after he left the stage in the midst of the horrific shooting in Las Vegas. He was in the midst of performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when gunfire poured down on the crowd leaving at least 50 dead and 400 more injured.
The country music singer said this on an Instagram post:
Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate
Fellow country music star Jake Owen was also in Vegas to perform at the festival and was backstage at the time of the shooting. He tweeted out the following messages:
You can watch a startling video below of the moment when Aldean realized what was happening and ran from the stage for cover. You can also watch as the crowd begins to realize that gunfire is coming down upon them.
Stephen Paddock, the apparently lone gunman, killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 400. Police believe he killed himself as they raided his hotel room.
