On Wednesday, Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer wrote a letter to Democrats demanding the party pledge to impeach President Trump if they take control of Congress next year.
The New York Times first reported Steyer’s letter. The mega-donor calls Trump a “clear and present danger to the republic.” He went on to urge Democratic lawmakers to “make your position clear” regarding an impeachment of Trump.
Steyer wrote, “This is not just an issue of Twitter posts but what it means for a person who has control over our nuclear arsenal. I hope you will make your position clear so that Democratic voters who are under constant attack by this administration, know their elected representatives have the patriotism and political courage to stand up and take action.”
Steyer also fired a shot at California Senator Dianne Feinstein (D), who announced that she will seek re-election next year earlier this week. In August, Feinstein infuriated several Democrats when she said that Trump had an opportunity to be a “good” president.
Steyer wrote, “It is clear for all to see that there is zero reason to believe ‘he can be a good president.'”
Steyer spent a reported $91 million on supporting Democrats in the last election. There has also been some buzz and speculation that he will be potentially running against Feinstein.
What are your thoughts? Do you like Steyer’s comments or not?
