It’s the first day of Spring…flowers are ready to bloom and joy is in the air. In Pennsylvania, the first day of Spring is full of glee for the Democrats. The PA redistricting case is finally over. Because of the way election law works, the GOP appeal of this case went straight to a 3 judge district court. They unanimously denied the Republican arguments to overturn the new map. Their ruling can only be appealed by the Supreme Court.
Enhancing this spring-time glee for the Democrats was the news that hours after the 3 judge district court ruling, the Supreme Court turned down a similar request to overturn the new map. There were no dissents from the high court.
So there you go…The 2018 election will be held under a map that the courts maintain has been drawn fairly. The Democrats will likely pick up three to four seats.
It seems like the Supreme Court is much less tolerant of blatant gerrymandering. That should be interesting to watch in the days ahead.
You know what they say if you can’t win elections, litigate them.
