Secretary of Energy Rick Perry apparently engaged in a fake phone call with two Russian pranksters, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday. The Secretary of Energy believed that he was speaking with the Ukrainian prime minister. He was actually talking with Alexei Stolyarov and Vladimir Kuznetsov. They are known as the “Jerky Boys of Russia.” The Energy department confirmed to news outlets that the call in fact occurred.
“Secretary Perry is the latest target of two Russian pranksters,” Shaylyn Hynes, a spokeswoman for the Energy Department, told Bloomberg by email.
“These individuals are known for pranking high-level officials and celebrities, particularly those who are supportive of an agenda that is not in line with their governments. In this case, the energy security of Ukraine.”
The Russian “Jerky Boys” reportedly presented the idea of a new fuel to Rick Perry on the phone call that is made from manure and alcohol. These pranksters are also known for a fake call made to Elton John. He thought he was talking to President Putin. They have also pranked Maxine Waters and John McCain.
