Secret Service managed to lose a laptop that kept floor plans for Trump Tower, information on Hillary Clinton’s email investigations, and a variety of other national security topics. Brooklyn police sources say the computer was taken out of a Secret Service agent’s vehicle.
Officials have been looking into the matter since its occurrence on Thursday morning and have yet to find the laptop. They have found several items stolen with the laptop, but nothing with sensitive documents.
The thief reportedly got out of what seemed to be an Uber car and broke into the agent’s car which was parked in her driveway. He then calmly walked away with a backpack according to local cameras. The agent told officials that nothing about the White House was on the computer, but there was information that could compromise national security.
The agent also mentioned that the computer was stolen along with a black bag, her access keycard, and some coins. It’s not clear what level of security clearance she had with that keycard, but it’s assumed her card will be shut down immediately.
“The Secret Service is very heavily involved and, citing national security, there’s very little we have on our side,” said a police source about the investigation. “It’s a very big deal.”
The source continued:
“There’s data on there that’s highly sensitive. They’re scrambling like mad.”
