Legend and former Fox News CEO, Roger Ailes, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 77. His wife, Elizabeth Ailes, announced his death and gave the following statement to The Drudge Report:
“I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning.” During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life.”
The former CEO resigned as the head of Fox News in 2016 during several sexual harassment charges. After 20 years serving Fox News, he stepped down and retired. The cause of death has not been released, but he celebrated his birthday just three days before his death.
According to Daily Mail:
“Ailes had struggled with his health. He had hemophilia, multiple surgeries to replace his joints and a secret prostate surgery a few years ago that put him on an extended leave from the network, according to New York magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman.”
His health continued to fall to the point where he was using a walker to get around and rarely leaving his executive suite. His memory and work will live on through Fox News, and he will be remembered for his contribution to Fox.
