Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has been criticized by some of her more aggressive Democratic allies for not taking a tougher stand against the Trump administration. But she is mincing no words about what she believes Donald Trump Jr. will face in a future public hearing.
During an interview with CNN on Monday, Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, was asked if she thinks Trump Jr. will return to the Senate for a hearing focused on the meeting he had last year with a Russian lawyer.
“I do,” she said. “Come hell or high water.”
The president’s son gave an interview earlier this month to the Senate judiciary staff, but it was behind closed doors. Donald Trump Jr. released a statement after the meeting in which he said that he thinks the interview “satisfied” the investigator’s questions about the 2016 meeting he had with the Russian lawyer.
“I answered every question posed by the committee related to this topic as well as all of their questions on other topics until both sides had exhausted their line of questioning,” he said.
“I trust this interview fully satisfied their inquiry,” Trump Jr. added.
But other Democrats from the committee, besides Feinstein, have made it known that they are not yet done with the president’s oldest son.
