A Fox News poll was released on Wednesday that provided new information on the sentiment of American voters. The poll revealed that more than half of voters in the country want President Donald Trump not only impeached, but also removed from office.
The survey found that 51% of registered voters want Trump impeached and removed, while another 4% of those polled want him impeached but for him to remain in office.
There were 40% of American voters who oppose impeachment proceedings. The new numbers show a nearly double-digit rise in the number of voters who want Trump impeached and removed compared to a Fox News poll from July. In that previous poll, only 42% of voters supported impeachment. The July survey also found that 5% of voters wanted Trump impeached but not removed, according to Fox’s report.
The voters who declared that they did not want Trump impeached in the survey released Wednesday gave several different reasons for their skepticism. They included: they don’t believe the allegations; they believe the impeachment is politically motivated; and they believe Trump did nothing wrong.
Voters who support Trump’s impeachment and removal from office have increased across the political spectrum since July, according to the Fox poll.
The number of Democrats who support impeachment increased by 11%, while the number of Republicans who support the move increased by 5% and independents rose by 3%, according to the survey.
Even though the numbers for impeachment increased, Trump’s approval rating dropped just two points since last month. His approval rating is now 43%, compared to 45% of voters who supported the job he was doing in September.
