Is it another Trump campaign all over again? France’s business sector is scratching their heads in disbelief as presidential candidate Marine Le Pen seems to be doing oddly well. Chief executive of France’s Publicis group, Maurice Levy, told CNBC no believes Le Pen will win:
“No-one in business really believes, at least in France, that Marine Le Pen will make it.”
Le Pen is the leader of the anti-immigration National Front party. One of her promises so far in her campaign is to renegotiate the terms of the membership between France and the European Union. However, her chances to win seem awfully limited according to Levy:
“Clearly she is leading in the first round but if you look at history and what has been the case (for) many years there is no chance that she is getting elected.”
CNBC reported more information on Levy and France stating:
“Levy, who is due to step down in June, was speaking with CNBC on Tuesday ahead of the group’s Viva Tech event which is aiming to become the largest tech event in Europe. The chief executive stressed France has been the number one country on the continent in terms of supporting tech start-up companies and expected around 5,000 start-ups to attend this year.”
Will Levy’s experience and history come true or will France have an election much like that of the United States of America? Let us know your thoughts below!
