This morning the President announced that Senate Republicans are headed to the White House for lunch to discuss health care repeal strategy. The announcement for a lunch meeting comes after three Republican Senators announced they would not support a straight repeal.
Those three Senators are Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.). However, they have already received blow back for their decision because they previously voted for a straight repeal of Obamacare in 2015.
It’s interesting that now that the bill has failed the President is getting the Senate together to put a game plan together. I think this further shows that the original plan of the Trump Administration, they never wanted a repeal and only did it because they knew it would fail. Some have said the President isn’t that smart. However, it’s becoming more apparent this was the Administration’s strategy.
Of course, meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck in health care purgatory until Washington can figure it out.
