Former presidential contender Hillary Clinton is not only in the public eye because of her tell-all book “What Happened,” she is now in the limelight for telling President Trump what should be happening!
Clinton called on the Trump administration on Sunday in a tweet to send the U.S. Navy to help Puerto Rico in its relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The wicked storm tore through the U.S. territory and left unprecedented destruction in its pathway.
The former First Lady urged the president and Defense Secretary James Mattis to deploy the United States Naval Ship Comfort immediately so they could help those on the island and begin a restoration in the midst of loss from the Category 4 storm.
“These are American citizens,” Clinton added and also retweeted images of the faces of some who were devastated by the destruction. At least 19 lives were lost in the region due to the relentless winds and rain that beat down the islands in the Caribbean. Almost 3 and a half million residents in Puerto Rico have lost all electricity since the storm knocked out the power on Wednesday. Some officials have warned that it could be months before they see power restored.
Relief resources in the region are already low because of a series of powerful storms that bombarded the U.S. over the past few months. Maria was preceded by Harvey and Irma.
President Trump spoke with the governors of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Thursday and also declared the devastation from Maria a major disaster. Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló has said that the storm is the “most devastating storm to hit the island this century, if not in modern history.”
What Hillary has failed to realize is that the Coast Guard is currently conducting operations in Puerto Rico. Two days ago the Coast Guard rescued a woman from a capsized boat. The Tampa Bay Times is also reporting Coast Guard is also flying in aid to Puerto Rico.
The military has a joint task force that was servicing Puerto Rico and took a direct hit. The military has now moved the task force to other Carribean islands with more infrastructure to continue to render aid to Puerto Rico.
What do you think about Hillary Clinton’s challenge to the president to send the Navy?
