Three weeks into his Presidency Donald Trump has made two things clear. First, He says what he wants and second, he says it on Twitter. This weekend when North Korea fired a test rocket to pressure the President he goes on Twitter to smack Mark Cuban around. President Trump made no mention of North Korea ramping up missile tests.
“I know Mark Cuban well,” Mr. Trump said Sunday morning on Twitter, where he has 24.7 million followers and has found an even more prominent megaphone since he became president. “He backed me big-time but I wasn’t interested in taking all of his calls. He’s not smart enough to run for president!”
No one is really sure what Mark Cuban did or said that caused the President to lash out at him. Earlier last week the President went after companies that no longer carry his daughter product line. Despite all the bickering the White House doesn’t seem to care how vocal President Trump is and has been strongly defended by his staff.
“Part of the reason the president got elected is because he speaks his mind,” Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, said last week, questioned about Mr. Trump’s harsh words about members of the judicial branch. “He doesn’t hold it back, he’s authentic and he’s not going to sit back, I think when he feels very passionately about something.”
On the other hand, President Trump did take to twitter to attack Senator John McCain after he criticized him for the Navy SEAL raid. Senator McCain has taken every instance to attack the President. It’s no secret Senator McCain hates that Trump is President and hates that fact the Trump won and he lost. If you’re going to attack the President and you are in Congress you need to prepare for the backlash.
The same for Senator Blumenthal who criticized President Trump for speaking out against judges. President Trump quickly lashed out.
“Ask Senator Blumenthal about his Vietnam record that didn’t exist after years of saying it did,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to false statements that Mr. Blumenthal admitted to in 2010, after they were revealed.
The endless bickering on Twitter really needs to stop. With everything going on the President needs to focus on the issues and stop wasting time reacting to every little thing. That’s what pundits are for! Let them do it! If President Trump wants to get anything done he needs to stop being childish and get stuff done.
