CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta has been offered a “major book deal” that will make him rich, according to The Daily Mail.
Acosta, who gained notoriety due to his on-camera clashes with President Donald Trump, press secretary Sarah Sanders and presidential advisor Kellyanne Conway, will reportedly be publishing the book through HarperCollins and will be titled: “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.”
It promises ‘never-before-revealed stories of this White House’s rejection of truth, while laying out the stakes for how Trump’s hostility toward facts poses an unprecedented threat to our democracy’ from Acosta, according to the publisher.
“Simply put, I am writing this book to share what I’ve experienced covering President Trump during his first two years in office,” Acosta said in a statement Thursday.
“This sobering, bewildering and sometimes frightening experience has made it absolutely clear that this is a dangerous time to tell the truth in America. The president and his team, not to mention some of his supporters, have attempted to silence the press in ways we have never seen before.”
“As just about everybody has seen, I have witnessed this firsthand.”
While Acosta didn’t elaborate as to what was the “dangerous” portion of his job, readers are expected to be able to get their hands on a published copy of his book in June of 2019.
Acosta has experienced Trump supporters making it known that he was unwelcome at their rallies, including taunts and chants while covering Trump events.
The dollar amount on his book deal hasn’t been released as of yet, however by lawyer Robert Barnett, who also negotiated book deals for President Obama is representing the journalist.
A major assist in catapulting Acosta to fame were the heated exchanges between himself and the president.
“When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you are the enemy of the people,” Trump said during one of their exchanges, likely prompting the title of the book.
