Kellyanne Conway challenges Adam Schiff to lead by example: “What does he have to hide?”

West Wing Senior Advisor Kellyanne Conway came out in support of Democratic House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff being made to testify in the public impeachment hearings next week according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Adam Schiff is going to make people raise their right hand and be under oath when they speak, I would politely suggest what does he have to hide?” Conway asked on Fox News according to the DCNF. “Why doesn’t he go under oath before he delivers another opening statement to the country? I want to say something else.”

Republicans are preparing for Schiff to testify, even going so far as to install Jim Jordan, who serves as the House Oversight Committee Ranking Member to temporarily serve on the House Intelligence Committee in order to allow him to participate in questioning in the Trump impeachment hearings starting next week.

Fox News reported that Jordan, who hails from Ohio will temporarily replace Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas who took a short term resignation from the panel on Friday.

“Jim Jordan has been on the front lines in the fight for fairness and truth. His addition will ensure more accountability and transparency in this sham process,” House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a statement on Friday according to Fox News.

“Under current terms, Jordan, as the top Republican on the Oversight Committee, has been in the room for most closed-door depositions,” Fox News reported. “Because he is not a member of the Intelligence Committee, though, the Ohio Republican cannot ask questions.”

McCarthy went on to say that, “In Speaker Pelosi’s House, those responsibilities have fallen victim to partisan witch hunts. The typically venerable Intelligence Committee has now become the partisan Impeachment Committee.”

McCarthy explained that Crawford would rejoin the committee after the inquiry is completed.

“Along with millions of Americans across the country who are frustrated with this impeachment-obsessed majority, Rick has offered to step aside for this charade,” McCarthy said. “When it is finished, Rick will rejoin the committee and resume his work to keep our country safe.”

Fox News cited a senior House Democratic aid which told the news organization that Democrats allowed the personnel shift because “it is customary that whoever the minority proposes is accepted.”

According to Fox News, “Jordan, who has been a staunch defender of the president, in his current role, would not have been on the dais during open hearings next week to counterpunch. Republican leadership all week had been weighing the Jordan move, and considering adding Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., and Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., as well. But in order to position Jordan on the panel, Republican leadership is required to remove one of the current Republicans on the panel. Removing three, to also include Meadows and Zeldin, would be somewhat of a feat.”

“Politically, there’s no way for us to pull this off,” a Republican source told Fox News.
