Kim Jong-un has once again threatened the U.S. saying he will turn it to ashes if America fires “even a single bullet.”
The statement said the following:
“The Korean People’s Army will reduce the bases of aggression and provocation to ashes with its invincible Hwasong rockets tipped with nuclear warheads and reliably defend the security of the country and its people’s happiness in case the US and the South Korean puppet forces fire even a single bullet at the territory of the DPRK.”
The statement came right after South Korea recorded critical progress on the North’s rocket-engine tests. U.S. allies all believe that having these rockets gives power that the North shouldn’t have, but the North is saying they will help launch satellites that could help their country advance. The reality is, the rockets are perfectly designed for intercontinental missiles.
South Korean defense ministry’s deputy spokesman Lee Jin-woo issued a statement saying:
“Through this test, it is found that engine function has made meaningful progress but further analysis is needed for exact thrust and possible uses.”
President’s Trump’s only statement on the matter was that Jong-un was “acting very, very badly.” Aside from that statement, the Trump administration has also been meeting since January about options the country could make. The only statement made by officials over the North Korean situation came from Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson:
“The diplomatic and other efforts of the past 20 years to bring North Korea to a point of de-nuclearisation have failed. So we have 20 years of a failed approach. And that includes a period in which the US provided $1.35 billion in assistance to North Korea as an encouragement to take a different pathway… If they elevate the threat of their weapons program to a level, we believe requires actions that option is on the table.”
The threat from North Korea has become so strong that Japan has already begun staging massive evacuation drills. Schools, offices, and stores have all gone into practice mode as air-raid sirens screamed through Japan.
North Korea has always made threats and been a big bully, but do you think this is any different than before? Let us know in the comments below!
