The National Rifle Association has just stepped on several toes in their most recent advertisement which called for a “closed fist of truth.” Major criticism came from a House Democrat who accused the NRA of attempting to benefit from the recent congressional baseball shooting. NRA spokeswoman, Dana Loesch, defended the ad shortly after it aired.
The House Democrat, Don Beyer, tweeted out his accusation that the NRA was trying to exploit the recent shooting that took place at a congressional baseball practice. During the practice, a gunman began firing at GOP lawmakers and others in Alexandria, Va.
Loesch tweeted back saying:
“This ad was filmed in April. Disappointed you don’t condemn the violence I’m condemning in this ad. Your assumptions are divisive.”
Loesch destroyed him with her simple but elegant statement. Over all, the ad attacked the violence, but specifically attacked the outlets that keep pushing violence over everything else. The media. Loesch is featured in the ad and individually calls out several reasons for the violence:
“They use their media to assassinate real news. They use schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler. They use their movie stars, singers, and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again.”
“And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance, all to make them march, to make them protest, make them scream ‘racism’ and ‘sexism’ and ‘xenophobia’ and ‘homophobia.’”
Loesch moves to close the add by revealing “the only way we can stop this”:
“The only way we stop this, the only way we save our country, and our freedom is to fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth.”
