Madness In Parkland After Two Students Are Arrested and Deputy Suspended

Things are spiraling downhill at Parkland, Florida Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Tuesday it was reported that two students were arrested for allegedly bringing knives to school.

Patricia Mazzei tweeted: “The Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students today for bringing knives to school, per BSO. A third was arrested for making threatening posts on Snapchat.”

A third student was arrested for allegedly making a threatening post on Snapchat that showed a gun and ammunition, according to WSVN News.

The Sun Sentinal reported:  “A sophomore was hospitalized for a mental-health evaluation after deputies learned he had posted photos of himself on Snapchat with a gun in his waistband along with images of bullets, according to the sheriff’s office. Both photos contained threatening messages, with one directed to somebody named ‘Josh,’ the sheriff’s office said.”

The three arrests do not seem to be related to each other. The Parkland High School is the scene of the February 14th shooting that killed 17 people.

There was also a report that the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Deputy Moises Carotti was caught sleeping in his car while on duty Monday. USA Today reports:

A deputy tasked with patrolling the Florida high school that was targeted by a mass killer last month was suspended Monday after falling asleep in his patrol car, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Moises Carotti will remain off the job without pay until the department finishes an internal investigation. His suspension is the latest embarrassment for the department, which has been the target of criticism since the Valentine’s Day shooting in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 dead.

The incident also came as police arrested three students Tuesday in separate incidents. Two students were charged after being accused of bringing knives to the school. Another was arrested after sending “threatening” photos on social media of a gun and bullets, the department said.

On Monday evening, a sergeant was patrolling inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when a student alerted him that a deputy was sleeping outside, said Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokeswoman for the department.

“Also, a BSO deputy patrolling the inside of the school was suspended after a student reported that the deputy was asleep on duty. Deputy Moises Carotti has been placed under internal investigation.”

And finally, Zachary Cruz, the younger brother of Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz, was arrested for trespassing on the school campus Monday.
