During a phone call last month, President Trump spoke with the extremely aggressive, and frankly murderous leader of the Philippine’s. Trump also invited the president to the White House which was also frowned upon by both Republican and Democrats. However, the phone call is now getting more anger from politicians and here’s why:
Thanks to the Intercept, a transcript of the phone call was recovered and published. After reading the full script of the call, one can honestly wonder what President Trump was thinking. Trump cheerfully supported Duterte’s murderous “drug war” and kept on mentioning a nuclear attack on North Korea.
The transcript was odd though. According to the Intercept, the transcript had several typographical errors but was an official Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs document. But despite some various concerns with the grammar, sources at the Palace as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed it is real via the news outlet Rappler.
The White House described the call as very friendly and said the two talked about the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), issues surrounding North Korea, and the Philippine’s fight against drugs.
