The rumors just may be true! California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters told the Daily Caller on Thursday that her weekend appearance in New Hampshire has nothing to do with potentially running for president in 2020. But then she turned around and said that she would run for president if Millennials want her to.
This crowd favorite among liberal progressives said, “I’m just going up to do a county Democratic thing. That’s all.” When Rep. Waters was pressed further, she said laughing, “I’m not running for anything but my own seat. I don’t have any presidential aspirations. If the millennials want me to do it, I’d do it, though.”
HOWEVER, Maxine further clarified her comments on Friday while speaking to The Hill:
It is not, she says, going to happen.
“I said, jokingly, ‘If the Millennials wanted me to do it, I’d do it,’” Waters told The Hill on Thursday. “But it’s a joke.”
Waters has been a very outspoken critic of President Trump. She is in her 14th term representing a large section of south central Los Angeles. She has recently blatantly called for Trump’s impeachment.
“Mr. Speaker, my position against this president and his administration is clear. I oppose this president. I do not honor this president. I do not respect this president,” Waters said during a floor speech.
Waters was invited to New Hampshire for a Sunday picnic at the Miller Farm in New Durham. She will meet and mingle with the members of the Strafford County Democratic Committee.
Do you think the rumors and her threat to run in 2020 if the Millennials want her to is real?
