Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) responded on Saturday night at the Republican Party of Kentucky’s Lincoln Dinner in Louisville, KY. President Trump had released a stinging rebuke calling the lack of a repeal and replace plan for Obamacare a “failure” by the Senate leader. McConnell basically said this to the president, “Welcome to the democratic process.”
The Kentucky senator continued saying, “So, governing is challenging from time to time. A lot of people look at all that and find it frustrating, messy. Well, welcome to the democratic process. That is the way it is in our country. And it has been that way from the beginning. And the only reason people are so focused on it now is the 24-hour cable news and the Internet.”
Answers like that are why people hate Washington. The fact that people care about the issues that they voted for has nothing to do with the 24-hour news cycle. Matter of fact no matter if you love them or hate them one positive to a 24-hour news cycle is that it holds politicians accountable. Sorry, Mr. McConnell that people are keeping an eye on you and making sure you are doing your job. How dare people hold you accountable (sarcasm).
Towards the end of the CNN interview below, the CNN reporters focus on this intense, in-house feud between McConnell and Trump. What do you think about Trump and McConnell’s words and CNN’s assessment of the situation?
