President Trump was faced with one of his toughest speeches to date on Tuesday night, but Americans thought he did great.
Although his support was far from everyone, Trump did get praises from both sides of the Congress while on Capitol Hill. His speech was both elegant and optimistic and more importantly, he stayed on topic. Many people saw the speech as a success and some, like Chris Wallace, called it the best:
“One of the best speeches in that setting I’ve ever heard any president give.”
Even CNN, who has serious conflicts with the Trump administration, said positive statements about his address. Wolf Blitzer of CNN said:
“The President of the United States, delivering an important, powerful speech. His tone clearly different than the speech he delivered at the inauguration. The President going through a whole range of issues.”
An even more shocking comment was made by Anderson Cooper:
“This was probably, without a doubt, one of his best speeches that I’ve ever heard.”
And lastly, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews came out and said the President’s address was a winner:
“I think left, right and center people have a sense of righteous indignation, right or wrong, that we’ve been screwed worldwide. We must restart the engine of the American economy, make it easier for companies to do business in the United States and much harder for companies to leave. I thought it was a winner politically. I think it was probably the reason he was elected in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio, it is his winning the ticket: economic nationalism.”
Many people are also taking to twitter and Facebook posting their support of Donald Trump’s address. Many are using the word effective as their primary point and that it was. This could be the first bright side to winning over the Americans who abhor the new president.
This is @realDonaldTrump at his most presidential — his most effective speech yet

This a very effective speech for Trump. He is speaking to Hill Republicans, reassuring them he wants what they want. This is working

So far, a highly effective speech.
