While being part of a moderated speech in Salt Lake City the former First Lady gave her take on America at this time.
While giving her speech hosted by Pluralsight, a Utah-based IT company the Former First Lady said:
We are looking at two different administrations.”
One, she said, was built on hope. The other is being led with fear.
“It isn’t just us first,” she said, a reference to Trump’s “America First” agenda. “We live in a big country and a big world.”
Michelle Obama said that “things are tough right now” and “we’re being tested.” The former first lady says she “continues to be hopeful” that things will improve.
When pressed by an audience member to run for president in 2020, she quickly shot back, “Oh, no! … Running for office is nowhere on the radar screen, but continuing in public service is something I will do for the rest of my life.”
On Tuesday President Trump said:
As president of the United States, I will always put America first, just like you as the leaders of your countries will always and should always put your countries first,” he said at Tuesday in New York.
Trump has also emphasized an “America first” stance on international trade and domestic manufacturing.
Although she wasn’t brave enough to mention the President by name there is no doubt how much disdain she has for Trump, his followers, and policies. Apparently, she doesn’t think American leaders should take care of its constituents first and the world second. What probably stings more is that she knows Trump was elected to eliminate everything her husband did.
What do you think of the former First Lady’s comments?
