Mishandler Or The Ultimate Secret Keeper? Rice To ‘Unmask’ Trump’s Team

Former President Obama’s National Security Adviser and Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, is now going to interview with the House Intelligence Committee regarding their investigation into Russia meddling in the US election last year. Rice has been a significant target for Republicans who have accused Rice of mishandling classified intelligence reports.
Both President Trump and Republican leaders have centered their allegation on Rice revealing, or “unmasking,” the names of Trump’s transition team aides seeking to reveal damaging information about the Trump campaign.
Susan Rice as denied doing anything wrong, but she has not yet answered questions from lawmakers. She declined a request to appear before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee in May. But now she has agreed to appear in a closed-door session that will most likely take place before the House leaves for an August recess.
Erin Pelton, a spokesperson for Rice, said, “Ambassador Rice is cooperating with bipartisan Russia investigations conducted by the Intelligence Committees as she said she would.”
This move to have Rice appear comes as Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) have called on the FBI to provide more information on whether there were warrants issued under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act for Trump associates during the presidential campaign.
“As to FISA warrants, I want to know was there ever a warrant issued against anybody in the Trump world?” Graham told CNN Thursday. “Was there probable cause found by a judge that would allow a warrant to be issued, and if that person was surveilled, did anything come of it?”
Rep. Devin Nunes, who served as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, issued three subpoenas last month for information about unmasking by Obama administration officials, including Rice. He took a secret trip to the White House to review intelligence about unmasking and two weeks later, Bloomberg reported that Rice had “unmasked” the names of Trump transition team members. When Rice’s name was revealed, Nunes became a focus for investigation in a House ethics probe. It was questioned whether he had leaked classified information, and he was force to step aside from leading the House investigation on Russian meddling. It is uncertain whether Nunes will still be a part of the interview with Rice.
The testimony of Susan Rice is going to be significant. Do you think she did anything wrong?
