President Trump has had enough of Sessions and is now contemplating bringing on Rudy Giuliani to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The President even took a jab at the Attorney General during his twitter rant today.
According to Axios, Trump recently criticized Session for recusing himself in the Russia investigations and now he has been looking toward former Mayor Giuliani to take the place of Sessions. The report came from Trump’s early Monday morning tweet which said Sessions was “beleaguered” and that Trump was dissatisfied with him:
“So why aren’t the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillary’s crimes & Russia relations?”
Trump was specifically frustrated by Sessions recusal telling the New York TImes the following:
“Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
Axios reports that President Trump is looking into Giuliani just as the investigation into Russian interference picks up. Giuliani was a long time supporter of Trump’s campaign and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Trump shook more things up by bringing him on. Just last Friday, Trump changed up his communications office bringing on Anthony Scaramucci as the director.
Bringing on Giuliani wouldn’t be a major surprise seeing as he was in the running for both the Attorney General position and Department of Homeland Security head. Days after the election, Giuliani told CNN that “there’s probably nobody that knows the Justice Department better than me.”
However, when December rolled around, Giuliani told President Trump that he wasn’t interested in any position other than Secretary of State. Giuliani told Fox and Friends how thankful he was but why he turned it down:
“He offered me some Cabinet positions, which i’m very thankful for. It just didn’t work out in terms of my private life.”
