Press Corp Not Moving, But Trump Issue’s A Stern Warning To The Media

Today President-Elect Trump made an appearance on Fox News stating they are not going to move the Press Corp. Yesterday the Red Blue Divide wrote a story about the Washington Press Corp being moved from the West Wing to a larger room to make space for more news agencies. The Press was very upset that the Trump Administration would move the Press anywhere other than its traditional place. When speaking about moving the Press Corp to allow for more reporters Trump said:

“The press went crazy, so I said, ‘Let’s not move it.’ But some people in the press will not be able to get in,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends” in an interview that aired Wednesday.

“We have so many people that want to go in so we’ll have to just have to pick the people to go into the room – I’m sure other people will be thrilled about that,”

“And they’ll be begging for a much larger room very soon,” he said. “You watch.”
Trump’s team had reportedly been considering moving the press corps from the White House.

If you would like to watch President-Elects comments watch below:

Over the weekend Trump’s Chief Of Staff Reince Priebus during two television appearances said:

“So no one is moving out of the White House,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.” “That is the White House, where you can fit four times the amount of people in the press conference, allowing more press, more coverage from all over the country to have those press conferences. That’s what we’re talking about.”

“This is about quadrupling the amount of reporters who can cover our press conference,”

The rooms in the White House are known for being small and the building has constantly been under renovations. With all the news organizations that now exist the Trump Administration claims to be attempting to find a place for everyone. One would think that in the 21st century that the Press would still be able to communicate to the White House regardless of their location. It looks good though for the country that is the example for democracy to have its press stationed at the place of power. However, it appears that not all the Press Corp is going to be allowed in; too bad for CNN.
