President Trump has been dealing with opposition to his travel ban since the moment it was in place, but his real struggle is his desired border wall. Since the beginning of his campaign, Trump has boasted of a border wall to separate Mexico and the United States. But now, protesters are back in action with a unique protest.
Musicians from Mexico, the United States, and other areas of the world are planning on coming to the US next month to show solidarity via a concert. Successful crowdfunding helped make the June 3rd show a reality. According to Yahoo News, the Dresden Symphony Orchestra will be playing in Friendship Park which joins both the US and Mexico.
The event has been nicknamed, “Tear Down This Wall!” and is being organized by Markus Rindt. Rindt made the following statement surround the Trump’s wall:
“It’s not the only wall in the world. The list of walls around the world is really long. …[But] nationalism is on the rise. And the (US-Mexico) wall is on people’s minds.”
Rindt was moved to organize the event and empowered to do so when he remembered Ronald Reagan telling the Soviet Union to “Tear Down this Wall” in Berlin. The times have changed and so have Rindt’s methods. This time, Rindt plans to use Germans, Swedes, two Latin Americans, and some Mexican dancers to get his point across.
