Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is blasting President Trump since it was reported that he would end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Schiff is now saying the Trump’s administration has hit “rock bottom.”
“For an Administration marked by indifference to the plight of others, today @POTUS hit rock bottom, ending protection for a bunch of kids,” Schiff tweeted.
Politico first reported on Sunday night that President Trump decided to end DACA. The Obama-era policy temporarily blocked the deportation of undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as minors and sought work permits.
There are now almost 800,000 people who have been brought to the country illegally as children and are now benefitting from the program. The decision that President Trump has supposedly already made reportedly includes a six-month delay. This will most likely give Congress a window in which it could step in before the present protections expire.
The president’s decision is creating an uproar from not only Schiff. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said that if President Trump ends DACA, it will be “one of the ugliest and cruelest decisions ever made by a president.” Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) accused Trump of “heeling to his base.”
What do you think of the strong words coming from Rep. Adam Schiff? Do you agree that Trump’s administration is hitting rock bottom?
