California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher just shared that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy apologized for a “joke” he told that stated Trump and Rohrabacher were being paid by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Early this week, the Washington Post reported that McCarthy told a private meeting of Republicans on Capitol Hill that he thought Putin was paying of Donald Trump and Dana Rohrabacher. The information came from an audio recording that was released by an unknown source. Just this week, McCarthy labeled the statement as a “bad attempt at a joke.”
During a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, the Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said:
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” the speaker said. “There was somebody who taped a meeting a year ago where our majority leader cracked a joke and then they released the tape of that joke out just a few days ago and that’s a pretty bizarre thing to happen. So obviously that’s a cause of concern of ours.”
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) says:
“That was a joke that didn’t make it. Listen, people know that I am outspoken on certain issues. Look, I’m a Republican fighting to legalize marijuana, for God’s sake! Do I get money from the cartels? No!”
The comment was a huge blow for Trump partly because it came as he is fending off several other issues. But it amazingly doesn’t seem to phase the unique President. What do you think about this recent debacle? Let us know in the comments below!
