Save The Children: Trump And Pope Join Forces

Here’s a story about President Trump that you probably won’t see in the American mainstream media. Trump, joining with the Pope, has entered the fight to save a baby in the United Kingdom. Charlie Gard is an infant that is suffering from mitochondrial depletion syndrome, and the European courts have just ruled that little Charlie’s life support machine should be turned off. Charlie’s parents have been fighting to ensure that their little boy could receive the experimental treatment, but the doctors involved in the case have allowed the courts to rule against it.
President Trump joined the battle to help the 10-month-old undergo this treatment in America. Trump tweeted: “If we can help little #CharlieGard, as per our friends in the U.K. and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so.”
The Twitter account that was started in a campaign to save little Charlie replied to the president: “Thanks @realdonaldtrump for your support – @teresamay do the right thing and #savecharliegard.”
Trump’s tweet came one day after Pope Francis added his voice to those who are trying to save Charlie and give him a final chance at life. The pontiff said that Charlie’s parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, should be allowed to “accompany and treat their child until the end.” Charlie’s rare genetic condition does not allow him to breathe on his own.
Little Charlie has a Pope and a President fighting for him, let’s hope that this story ends with a miracle.
