On Wednesday a former Hillary Clinton volunteer was fired from his job after he was discovered making fun of the fallen Navy SEAL widow on twitter. The man’s name is Dan Grilo who reported on his Twitter profile that he was a “former volunteer for both Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama.
Mr. Grilo got himself in trouble after he responded to a tweet from Matt Pearce of the LA Times. Matt Pearce posted on twitter the events that unfold when the congress and the President gave Ryan Owens the fallen Navy SEAL and his widow a three-minute standing ovation. People on twitter immediately condemned Mr. Grilo who did apologize, however, the onslaught continued. Quickely Mr. Grilo made his account private and then deleted it.
The Navy SEAL community did not take kindly to this and found Mr. Grilo’s LinkedIn account. A former Navy SEAL Derrick Van Orden wrote the company that Grilo worked for and as a result was fired. During an interview with Fox News the Navy SEAL community issued a strong warning to those who wish to attack “gold star widow’s” and also sent a personal message to President Trump. The interview is below:
Mr. Grilo worked for the Chicago-based Liberty Advisor Group who did release a statement:
Regardless of whether the comments in the tweet were intended to cause the hurt and anger that they ultimately generated, they were unacceptable to us, and the individual who issued the tweet is no longer affiliated with Liberty,
There are some really important lessons here the first one being, “think before you click.” This guy deleted his twitter account and still was discovered; remember the internet never forgets. A second lesson is, the SEALS are the best warriors in the world don’t tick them off. Third, do not attack the widow of a veteran it makes you look awful and you look like a coward.
Attacking the President is fine he ran for office and is fair game, but the widow of a fallen soldier is just plain wrong.
