A group run by former US Attorney General Eric Holder is taking the President’s Administration to court.
On Tuesday Holder said that the National Democratic Redistricting Committee is going to fight the administration decision about a question on the 2020 census.
“We will litigate to stop the Administration from moving forward with this irresponsible decision,” Holder said. “The addition of a citizenship question to the census questionnaire is a direct attack on our representative democracy.”
The announcement from Holder comes after Wilbur Ross, Trump Commerce Secretary announced that the 2020 census will ask if you are a US citizen (oh the horror).
“Make no mistake – this decision is motivated purely by politics,” Holder said. “In deciding to add this question without even testing its effects, the Administration is departing from decades of census policy and ignoring the warnings of census experts.”
The Attorney General from California Xavier Becerra said that he also will be filing a lawsuit saying it’s not just a bad idea to ask if you are a citizen of the country it’s “illegal.”
