Silenced Or Slammed? White House Refuses To Recognize Pride Month

In the video below, you can watch and listen as Hillary Clinton slams President Trump for his treatment of the LGBT community. She now has, even more, fuel to add to this fire. Trump has broken with precedent by not recognizing June as LGBT Pride Month.
President Bill Clinton first recognized the month of June as LGBT Pride Month in 1999 as he commemorated the Stonewall Riots of late June 1969. Many point to these riots as the very beginning of the modern gay rights movement. In 2000, Bill Clinton again recognized June as Pride Month. The practice was stopped under the Bush administration, but it was picked back up under President Obama, and carried through for 8 years. The former president issued June proclamations and hosted celebrations with the LGBT community inside the White House.
This year, the White House did not respond to a request for a comment. Trump did not recognize LGBT Pride Month, but he did proclaim the month of June as Great Outdoors Month, National Caribbean-American Heritage Month, African-American Music Appreciation Month, National Ocean Month and National Homeownership Month.
Trump promised something very different as a candidate for president. In June of last year, he declared that he would be a better ally of the LGBT community than Hillary Clinton. “Thank you to the LGBT community”, he tweeted. “I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.” Later that same month, Trump reiterated his commitment to the LGBT community after the attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando. He declared at a New Hampshire rally, “Ask yourself, who is really the friend of women and the LGBT community? Donald Trump with actions or Hillary Clinton with her words?”
Trump’s decision to stay silent on this issue in the month of June comes at a time when record numbers of Americans support same-sex marriage. According to the Pew Research Center, 62% of Americans now say they are in favor of allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally.
What are your thoughts about the White House’s silence on the LGBT issue during the month of June? What do you think about Hillary’s criticism?
