The Republican Congressman from Michigan Justin Amash was questioned by reporters from TheHill.com as he left a GOP meeting on Wednesday. What he said, shocked journalists. Amash was asked by reporters if the Comey memo concerning Trump and Flynn was grounds for impeachment and he said:
Yes. “But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,”
Reporters continued questioning Amash, and The Hill reports:
Asked by another reporter whether he trusted Comey’s word or Trump’s, Amash said: “I think it’s pretty clear I have more confidence in Director Comey.”
Amash is one of only two House Republicans to cosponsor a Democratic bill to establish an independent commission to investigate Russia’s role in the election. Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) has also endorsed the legislation.
Flynn was ousted as Trump’s national security adviser in February after it was revealed he misled the public and top White House officials about his communications with a Russian ambassador regarding sanctions.
Amash, a frequent conservative critic of the Trump administration, has broken with the White House on a variety of issues, including healthcare reform and the Justice Department’s new tougher sentencing guidelines.
It’s no secret that the congressman has been an outspoken critic of the President since the Republican primary and has taken this opportunity to pounce on the President. On Tuesday night he also posted on Twitter:
The allegations reportedly contained in the memo are incredibly serious. Mr. Comey also needs to testify in open session ASAP. https://t.co/OjZIvpRsxm

The Trump administration is definitely under heavy attack, and so far they have kept very quite. It is unclear what they are going to do, but If they don’t get on the offensive quick, this could spiral completely out of control.
