Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-SC, is stirring up mainstream and social media after a television ad showing somewhat crude barbershop talk amongst men.
The piece first aired over the weekend during the contested race between Gowdy and his Democratic opponent Chris Fedalei. Gowdy is running for a fourth term. All the talk is about Gowdy’s ever-changing hair style. Set in a barbershop, the ad is delivered with a heavy dose of self-deprecating humor.

From USA Today:
With the tag line “consistent conservative, inconsistent haircuts,” Gowdy mocks his own ever-changing hairstyles, from youthfully spiky to the Draco Malfoy slick back.
The 30-second spot ends with an unusual disclaimer: “This is Trey Gowdy, and for some reason, I approved this message.”
As intended, the ad picked up attention in a variety of media outlets.
Gowdy has been at the center of ongoing Congressional investigations of Hillary Clinton. He has been attacked by liberals from all sides. It’s good to see Gowdy can handle the pressure with a little fun to show his district he is not just a politician, but one of the people.
