Trump calls out Fox News: “Never thought I’d say this…”

President Donald Trump had harsh words for two Fox News correspondents who he said had “less understanding” of the border wall negotiations than “fake new CNN & NBC.”

The president’s ire was pointed at Fox News’ White House Correspondent John Roberts and Washington Correspondent Gillian Turner in a Sunday tweet.

“Never thought I’d say this but I think @johnrobertsFox and @GillianHTurner @FoxNews have even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN & NBC!” the President tweeted on Sunday.

He added: “Look to final results! Don’t know how my poll numbers are so good, especially up 19% with Hispanics?”

Trump has been previously known to favor the news giant over many networks that he regularly calls “fake news.”

It has been well known that the president prefers to watch Fox News, often quoting its guests and anchors:

“Thank you to Brit,” Trump said on Sunday, as he retweeted Fox host Brit Hume. “This is a very big deal in Europe. Fake News is the Enemy of the People!

And on Monday, the president quoted “Fox and Friends” guest Deroy Murdock:

“In the Media’s effort to destroy the President, they are actually destroying themselves. Given all of the tremendous headwinds this President has faced, it’s amazing he has accomplished so much.” DEROY MURDOCK @foxandfriends I agree!

While it’s unclear exactly which report the president found frustrating on the part of the Fox correspondents, much of the news cycle is taken up with reporting on the White House’s efforts to find more permanent funding for the government.

The President signed a measure that would fund the government for three weeks, but that did not include funding for the border wall that he promised during his campaign.

Trump has reiterated time and again that he believes there is a “humanitarian crisis” at the southern border and he will not stop until there is funding for a border wall between the United States and Mexico.
