On Monday, President Donald Trump said that he would like to see an “end” to the ongoing federal and congressional probes into Russian election interference.
Trump also claimed that the public interest toward the investigation has lowered considerably.
When asked about special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing probe into potential ties between the Trump Administration and Russia, Trump said, “They ought to get to the end of it because I think the American public is sick of it.”
Trump also added that “there has been absolutely no collusion,” despite it being proven by Mueller’s team.
Trump also dismissed the probes as “fake news,” claiming that Democratic officials continue to use the investigation as an “excuse” for their defeat during the 2016 presidential election.
“The whole Russian thing was an excuse for the Democrats losing the election and it turns out to be just one excuse,” Trump said.
When asked if he was considered firing the former Mueller, Trump responded,”No, not at all.”
Trump’s comments echoed his prior statement on the matter in August.
2 Months ago, Trump told reporters, “I haven’t given it any thought. I’ve been reading about it from you people. You say, ‘Oh, I’m going to dismiss him.’ No, I’m not dismissing anybody.”
What are your thoughts? Do you think the Russian probes were legitimate or do you side with Trump?
