On Friday morning President Trump addressed the CPAC convention. It was a less fiery than the press conference or speech he delivered last week. The speech was a little under an hour and President Trump laid out some plans that he has in future. If you would like to watch the speech it is below.
To start President Trump said that he will stand up for America and be proud of American. He then slammed the media for fake news stating that the polls were wrong and they were wrong. The President also defending his actions attacking the Press:
“It creates a whole false deal, folks,” he said. “And we have to fight it. They get upset when we expose their false stories. They say we can’t criticize their coverage because of the First Amendment. Nobody loves it [the First Amendment] better than me.”
“As you saw, throughout the entire campaign, and even now, the fake news doesn’t tell the truth. So, just in finishing, I say it doesn’t represent the people. It never will represent the people. We have to go out and speak our minds and we have to be honest.”
Second, President Trump did take a nice swipe at the Democrats saying how pitiful the superdelegate system is and what happened to Bernie Sanders. He also commented on how dishonest the Democrats were and how some Bernie Sanders may have voted for him.
The President then stated all that he has done and will do to increase fossil fuel production and make it clean. In his remarks, the President said he is committed to using coal but only in a clean and efficient manner.
“And by the way, I want regulation. I want to protect our environment. I want regulations for safety. I want all of the regulations that we need and I want them to be so strong and so tough, but we don’ need 75 percent of the repetitive, horrible regulations that hurt companies, hurt jobs and make us noncompetitive overseas with other companies from other countries. We are going to have regulation, be really strong and really good and going to protect our environment and going to prove the safety of our people and workers, OK?”
Next, the President relayed his commitment to “the largest military build up we have ever seen.” Mr. Trump said that America will provide peace through strength and no one will want to mess with us. The President said funding for the military will be in the next budget.
“It will be one of the greatest military buildups in American history. No one will dare question, as they have been because we are very depleted, our military might again. We believe in peace through strength and that’s what we will have.”
“We are going to keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country. We will not be deterred from this course. In a matter of days, we will be taking brand new action to protect our people and keep America safe.”
Lastly, President Trump made mentions of all the companies that have decided to stay in the US and touted his meetings with companies in the country. In his remarks, the president echoed “Get America off welfare and back to work.”
One thing to make note is the President did not make any mention of the plans to repeal Obamacare or the tax breaks that he promised. Everything that the president mentioned had to do with actions that he can take and did not mention anything that he will need congressional approval. It is unclear how long the Presidents base will wait for these key legislations that he promised during the campaign. However, so far at least Republicans should take heed the only thing worst than have an angry President after you are his supporters.
