With the help of 16 Senate Democrats, Bernie Sanders introduced his new “health care for all” bill.
The bill would give Medicare to every U.S. citizen, which, in turn, would get rid of all employer insurance plans. Half of the Democratic caucus supports this bill.
On Thursday, President Trump, however, took multiple shots at Sanders’ bill, calling it a “curse on the U.S.”
He continued, “Bernie Sanders is pushing hard for a single payer healthcare plan – a curse on the U.S. & its people. I told Republicans to approve health care fast, or this would happen. But don’t worry, I will veto because I love our country & its people.”
The Democratic party far from united on single-payer health care, as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Democrat-California) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (Democrat-New York) have both declined to endorse the plan.
