America will awake to the most historic, come-from-behind, beat-all-the-odds, upset victory in the nation’s political history.
Donald Trump will be the 45th president of the United States of America.
It was a stunning win watched around the world.
Trump was humble in accepting victory and calling for a new vision for America.
“Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division. It’s time for us to come together as one united people,” Trump told supporters in New York.
Trump’s prospects started dismally election night. Exit polls showed Hillary Clinton was set to follow pollsters’ claims that she’d run away with the race.
As the night marched on, however, state after state turned red in favor of the real estate mogul. Blue states were slow to support the Democrat, as in the case of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, never materialized for Clinton.
At the time his acceptance speech started just before 3 am EST, not all votes in all states had been tallied. His lead was clear, and Clinton finally acknowledged reality. She refused to speak to the public, much like her entire campaign, and called Trump to concede.
“She congratulated us on our victory. I congratulated her and her family on a very hard fought campaign,” Trump said.
Trump was humble in his first speech as the future leader of the free world. He acknowledged his presidency will be well-served for everyone in the country to work together, including all people and those in political power.
I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans and this is so important to me. For those who have chosen not to support me, of which there were a few people, I am reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify our great country.
Trump said his campaign, and now victory, is a movement that must continue.
Ours was not a campaign, but rather an incredible and great movement made up of millions of hard-working men and women who love their country and want a better, brighter future for themselves and for their families.
It’s a movement comprised of Americans from all races, religious, backgrounds and beliefs who want and expect our government to serve the people.
Work on the future begins now, Trump urged.
Working together we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the American dream.
America will no longer settle for anything but the best.
