Trump’s Joint Address Guests Reveals Everything About His Values

Tuesday night’s address to a joint session of Congress is perhaps one of the most important speeches he will give to date. Along with his important speech, Trump brought a list of guests that mirrored his core values.

The President is facing one of the most divided America’s we’ve ever seen and his guest list should unify just about everyone. Below are the list of guests he will be bringing.

Denisha Merriweather

Merriweather was in the news not long ago for breaking incredible odds and becoming the first in her family to graduate high school and college. The once-struggling student says her success is due to the Florida tax-credit scholarship program. The program aims to award scholarships to kids of low-income families.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was working to help fund that program. Trump hopes that this connection will encourage congress to allow an implementation of a sister program at a federal level.

Maureen McCarthy Scalia

President Trump decided to invite the Widow of late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The invite is interesting but does align with President Trumps desire to honor Scalia with a replacement that honors his values. With Neil Gorsuch in that seat, it seems like that will happen. With Ms. Scalia alongside Trump, he may just win over a few more right-winged politicians.

Jessica Davis and Susan Oliver

Davis is the widow of fallen detective Michael Davis Jr. and Oliver is the widow of fallen Sheriff’s deputy Danny Oliver. The two men were killed by an illegal immigrant in October of 2014. The presence of their wives will show Trump’s support of blocking illegal immigration and protecting our police. President Trump’s support for local law enforcement has been clear from day one of his campaigns.

Megan Crowley

Ms. Crowley was diagnosed with Pompe disease (impacting muscle development) at the age of 15-months. Although doctors told her father that she wouldn’t live past 2 years old, her father, John Crowley, dedicated his life to finding a cure. Ms. Crowley is now 20-years-old and attends the well-known Notre Dame University. Mr. Crowley will be in attendance with his daughter.

The appearance of Megan and her father will show President Trumps desire to see advancement in medicine for rare diseases. Mr. Crowley also a created a company that was acquired by Genzyme in 2001. That company eventually created a successful enzyme replacement therapy for Pompe disease. The enzyme has been treating Mr. Crowley’s daughter and son since its creation.

Jamiel Shaw Sr.

Mr. Shaw is the father of a football star who was murdered by an illegal immigrant in 2008. While many ridiculed the President’s harsh stance on immigration, Mr. Shaw defended him. That defense of Trump’s statements continued, so having a second person against illegal immigration could prove to move those in congress.

Most of these guests have been affected by immigration is some way or another. That being said, Trump’s address obviously holds weight in that area. Winning the hearts of many American’s was the easy part compared to this speech to congress.
