On Monday, CNN’s Leila Santiago has covered the immigrant “caravan” moving through Mexico and toward the United States.
Santiago asked the travelers where they intended to go. Everyone who answered indicated that they were traveling to the United States to seek safety.
Santiago claimed that many of the migrants would stay in Mexico, and she asked those on the bus where they would go.
She said, “They are fleeing violence from gangs that are controlling the areas in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, where they live. Many of them will stay in Mexico.”
The migrants on the bus, however, did not back up her claim.
In Spanish, she asked the bus, “Who will stay in Mexico?”
None of the migrants raised their hands.
Immediately after, Santiago inquired, “Who will go to the United States?” Santiago inquired immediately after.
The majority of the bus raised their hands.
