Sen. John McCain’s last reelection campaign had as its foundation repealing and replacing Obamacare. But in August the Arizona Republican senator voted against even opening the debate on the failed healthcare legislation. A new healthcare plan was killed by that vote.
When McCain was asked by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy if his vote was in protest of Trump’s presidency, he unloaded on Doocy. You can watch the encounter below.
Doocy asked, “Has your relationship with the president frayed to the point that you’re not going to support anything that he comes to you and asks for?”
McCain replied, “Why would you say something that stupid? Why would you ask something that dumb? Huh? My job as a United States senator as a senator from Arizona which I was just reelected to. You think that I would somehow behave in a way that I would block everything just because of some personal disagreement? That’s a dumb question.”
What do you think of McCain’s response to Doocy’s question? Was it a fair question?
