MSNBC news anchor Lawrence O’Donnell is reportedly fuming over a recently released clip that shows behind the scenes footage in which O’Donnell rants in a profanity-laced tirade to his staff. The clip appears to be during breaks in one show, and it lasts a full eight minutes. The MSNBC anchor fumes about things like an earpiece malfunction, wrong copy, and some offset hammering.
After O’Donnell begins by introducing a clip about President Trump, he pauses and then angrily says, “What’s going on, why am I losing this, why don’t I have sound,” he says with his voice rising. “Who’s asking for a Labor Day rundown in my ear?”
“God dammit,” he yells and then slams his fists on his desk.
After trying to hold in his anger, and visibly shaking, O’Donnell yells, “STOP THE HAMMERING!” He continues, “STOP THE HAMMERING UP THERE. WHO’S GOT A HAMMER? WHERE IS IT? WHERE’S THE HAMMER? GO UP ON THE OTHER FLOOR. SOMEBODY GO UP THERE AND STOP THE HAMMERING. STOP THE HAMMERING. I’LL GO DOWN TO THE GODDAMNED FLOOR MYSELF AND STOP IT, KEEP THE GODDAMNED COMMERCIAL BREAK GOING. CALL FUCKING PHIL GRIFFIN, I DON’T CARE WHO THE FUCK YOU HAVE TO CALL. STOP THE HAMMERING. EMPTY OUT THE GODDAMNED CONTROL ROOM AND FIND OUT WHERE THIS IS GOING ON.”
By the end of the clip, O’Donnell is wildly rolling up the paper his script and then throws them on the floor. He vehemently complains about the editing of an individual clip, “Jesus Christ,” he then says as he slams a pen on his desk. “Crazy fucking sound coming in my ear, this fucking stupid hammering.”
“It just fucking sucks,” O’Donnell cries. “It fucking sucks to be out here with this out of control shit.”
After the video hit the internet, O’Donnell responded with a remorseful tweet:
What do you think about this tirade? Should anything be done?
